24 Hours In A Day

Happy February !!!! Wow did January fly by. Yesterday was spent planning this weeks menu and lessons out. We are back to our math block on how man measures time and I wanted to make sure everything meshed together. There also is a festival this week and I wanted to make sure I had all my resources and supplies ready. This morning Papa made pancakes and bacon for breakfast while I prepared chicken noodle soup to simmer for lunch. After our morning chores I called The Little’s to circle. Here is this weeks circle.

We worked on lesson 11 with our penny whistles and moved into beanbag math with the verse Crick Crack Snip Snap working on the 2,3,5,10,&11 times tables.

For main lesson today we reviewed the cycle of a year that we have already covered and moved into There are 24 Hours In A Day. I read the story of creation in Genesis chapter 1 again from the King James Bible and we focused on verse 16. We talked about how the day is divided into AM & PM and Miss Sky made a page in her MLB. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24734949@N04/4323138949/

For Grammar today we reviewed the parts of speech she has learned and I had Miss Sky circle , underline , and put a square around the nouns, verbs, and adjectives. I explained to Miss Sky what a sentence was and she practiced writing some on the board. Then she made a page in her MLB. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24734949@N04/4323874770/

Miss Sky has a new memory verse this month Genesis 1: 14-19 and she copied verse 14 in her MLB. She practiced the capital letters Q,R,S,&T in cursive first in the air , then on the board, and last on each other’s back. She is also practicing writing her name in cursive.

After lunch Miss Sky read chapters 1 &2 of The Year Of The Panda by Miriam Schlein and I read the first 3 chapters of The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes. We are sewing felt hearts making a mobile to hang over the seasonal table for handwork this week.

Tonight I will be telling the story of St. Bridget for bedtime to get us ready for tomorrows festival. http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=steedman&book=island&story=bridget
