While explaining multiplication to Little Sis,

Me:” So 4 times 2 means two fours or 4 plus 4 which equals?”

Little Sis:” 8 ”

Me:” Right, so 4 times 4 means 4 fours which equals?”

Little Sis:” 16 ”

Me with my jaw open in disbelief of how fast she figured the correct answer out. “Right, how did you come up with the answer?” (because it could have been a lucky guess).

Little Sis: “Well 4 plus 4 is 8 and 8 plus 8 is 16 so 4 times 4 is 16.”

Me: “Well okay then, as long as you understand what it means to multiply I guess we are done.”

🙂
