Fine Art (Art History)

Credit (2)

Art History is a chronological survey that provides a general knowledge of art history, which is achieved through video lecture, discussion, and project-oriented experiences. Although the primary purpose of this course is to help the student develop a better understanding and appreciation of visual art by exploring its evolution throughout human history, it emphasizes understanding of works in context, considering such issues as geographical, cultural, social, political, and religious factors that strongly influence the making of art. In addition, the student will explore different styles and movements in art; increase their skills in observing works of art, analyzing design qualities, and interpreting meanings.

(In which I actually use the encyclopedias for the examples of the works of art covered. I really like: Art That Changed the World.)
